About this data

Issuer figures are asset-weighted: a fund counts in proportion to its size, so a $200bn fund moves the number and a $20m one barely does. An issuer shows a year-to-date figure only when at least three of its funds report one.

“Hottest” means today's volume against the fund's own three-month average, counting only funds that average at least 100,000 shares a day — a thin fund can trade five times its usual and still be a few hundred shares.

Returns are the ones each fund's own quote reports. The return and today's-move leaderboards only include funds with at least $100 million in assets.

Only ETFs that can be attributed to a fund family are counted, so these totals are smaller than the whole US ETF market.
